CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - 鈥淲elcome to the Table,鈥� the theme for this year's Campbellsville University Baptist Campus Ministry Dinner Theater, was meant both literally and figuratively as Ed Pavy, director of campus ministries and the coordinator of the event, invited guests to not only enjoy their meals, but he also invited them to the 鈥樷�漈able of the Lord.鈥�
鈥淭his event is a way that we can share a little bit of our heart with you, and also a way for you to know these students, support them and pray for them,鈥� Pavy said.
The evening's guest speaker, Greg Bruckert, spoke about evangelism and the adjustments that one needs to make when preparing for a mission trip.
鈥淢issions give you a way to look at the world with God's eyes.鈥� Bruckert said. He spoke about the work Phillip did in Samaria, and his ability to hear God's call. 鈥淥ne of the greatest things to develop is the knack of hearing God's voice,鈥� he said.
Bruckert and his family have been on the Foreign Mission Field in Indonesia since 1986 with the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. He serves as a professor of evangelism/missions at the Indonesian Baptist Theological Seminary, and is also Team Leader of the Central Java Missions team focused on the North Coast Javanese people.
The evening also featured presentations from various BCM Creative Ministry teams including the Puppet Team, Sign Language Team, Black Light Team, Interpretive Movement Team and the Drama Team.
Music for the event was provided by the BCM worship band.
The annual event helps to raise funds for the yearly mission trips taken during spring break. About $800 was raised for this year's mission trips. Students shared personal stories of how they saw God work on previous mission trips taken to Poland and China. This year, teams of students will be traveling to Toledo, Ohio; Dearborn, Mich.; Costa Rica and Mexico to share the gospel.
The meal was catered by Pioneer College Caterers Inc., and the servers were student volunteers from BCM.
