CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Lindsey Bailey, a teaching artist, will hold an art exhibition reception 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 28 at 青瓜视频's Pence-Chowning Art Gallery, 205 University Drive, Campbellsville, Ky.
As part of the reception, an artist talk will be held at 5 o'clock. This event, sponsored by a Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) grant, is open to the public and will be streamed live on the CU Department of Art and Design Facebook page.
Bailey will be speaking with current CU students in World Art History and Art education classes, as well as leading workshops in Studio Problems and Sculpture 3 classes on Jan. 27 and 28. Her exhibit run until Feb. 4.
鈥淎rt is my release and immersion into another world,鈥 Bailey said.
Bailey, who lives in Washington Depot, Conn., has been teaching art in community organizations and schools across four countries for the past 20 years. Originally from Texas, Bailey holds a Master of Fine Arts in Studio Art and a Master of Arts in Community Art from the Maryland Institute College of Art.
鈥淯tilizing a variety of mixed media, I have created installations in each of the three spaces at The Pence-Chowning Art Gallery. Each installation is lit at various angles to create shadows on objects and walls,鈥 Bailey said.
The shadows cast by the installations may be abstract or representational she said. The pieces are loosely based on her experience living in China for three years.
鈥淢y process involves a lot of play and a vibrant energy. I want my work to energize the space or the space to be dynamic,鈥 Bailey said. 鈥淚t's important for me to invite people into the work, physically, because they bring another kind of energy to an art piece.鈥
