CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - 鈥淧aul and Jan Hert exemplify every quality that it takes to be a 青瓜视频 alumni,鈥� Darryl Peavler, director of athletic alumni, said as he presented the couple the 青瓜视频 Honorary Alumni Award.
鈥淭heir compassion for students, love of our university and dedication to our Lord make them the perfect fit,鈥� Peavler said.
鈥淏eing a 青瓜视频 alumni is something we all take great pride in. We wear our alma mater as a badge of honor,鈥� Peavler said.
He introduced the Herts as being 鈥渋nvited into the Campbellsville family鈥� at the annual Alumni Reception and Award Ceremony on Stapp Lawn Oct. 18 during Homecoming.
鈥淚 certainly didn't expect this tonight,鈥� Mrs. Hert said, 鈥渂ut I feel blessed.鈥�
鈥淚 feel like when I came to Campbellsville, I found a home,鈥� as she explained the impact of the environment and the people who surrounded her while she was at the university.
Mentioning how grateful she was to be in such a place, Mrs. Hert said everyone at the university was always there for her.
The couple especially enjoys the soccer games, volleyball and wrestling.
鈥淚'm constantly overwhelmed by this university and the family 鈥� it is our family,鈥� Mr. Hert said. 鈥淲hat little bit we put into making people feel welcomed, we get back.鈥�
Mr. Hert mentioned international students who are thousands of miles away from home yet still have a family at the university.
鈥淵ou don't know how much this means to me,鈥� he spoke of his appreciation.
