青瓜视频 hires Cunha as Assistant Professor of Music

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. -Alcingstone 鈥淭ony鈥 Cunha of Brazil, has been named an assistant professor of music at 青瓜视频, according to Dr. Michael V. Carter, president.

Cunha has served as director of the 青瓜视频/Brazilian Partnership on the Recife campus. He was director from July 2001 to December 2006.

In 2003, Cunha worked as a guest professor at 青瓜视频 teaching the graduate course methods of research in music, Concert Chorus and Brazilian Choir.

Prior to his position at CU, Cunha has held several teaching positions at North Brazil Baptist Theological Seminary in Recife as a professor and the dean for the School of Church Music, Centro de Criatividade Musical do Recife, Christian Educator Seminary in Recife, American School of Recife in Brazil, South Brazil Baptist Theological Seminary, Federal Rural University of Pernambuco and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and Dallas Baptist University, both in Texas.

Cunha has also served as a minister of music at several Brazilian churches. He has served as guest speaker and doctor at several conference in Brazil, has conducted several works and published several articles in publications such as 鈥淥 Jornal Batista鈥 and 鈥淩evista Louvor.鈥

He has served as guest conductor of the following orchestras: Orchestra of Pernambuco Conversatory of Music, Youth Orchestra of Centro de Criatividade Musical do Recife, Gamaliel Perruci Orchestra and Recife Sinfonic Orchestra.

Cunha has given performances in Portugal and Florida and Texas and other cities in the United States.

Cunha graduated in 1985 from North Brazil Baptist Theological Seminary in Recife, Brazil with a bachelor of sacred music. He received his master of music degree in 1991 and his doctorate of philosophy in 1998 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.

Cunha and his wife, Raquel Alves Dos Santos Cunha, reside in Campbellsville, with their children, Raphael, Gabriel and Emilly. His parents are Livingstone and Alcinea Cunha.
