CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - 鈥溓喙鲜悠� is a better place because of people like Steve Wright,鈥� Benji Kelly, 青瓜视频's vice president for development, said.
Wright met his wife, Lisa, while attending CU in the 1970s. They graduated in 1980
and 1981, respectively.
鈥溓喙鲜悠� is important to Lisa and me because that is where we met,鈥�
he said.
He graduated from CU with a bachelor's degree in political science and passed the Uniform Investment Advisor Law Examination in 2008. He is now a managing member of The Wright Legacy Group LLC, which offers a variety of financial services.
鈥淚 owe who I am today to Campbellsville,鈥� he said. 鈥淚t's the best kept secret in Christian higher education.鈥�
Wright and his wife support CU by 鈥済iving monthly and for special fundraisers.鈥� These have included being one of the first to contribute to the Ransdell Chapel, restoration of the Student Activities Center, supporting the Scholarship Fund and Hardin/LaRue Alumni Chapter.
The beginning of the Campaign for the Commonwealth kicks off at the Hardin/LaRue Alumni and Friends event on March 20 at 6 p.m. at the Stone Hearth Inn, 1001 N. Mulberry St., Elizabethtown.
鈥淭his campaign will help give more funds to scholarships, which will give the ability to provide Christian learning for more students,鈥� Wright said.
Wright is a member of 青瓜视频's Board of Trustees and is a member of the university's Advancement Board. He also serves on the Stewardship and Master Planning Teams at Severns Valley Baptist Church in Elizabethtown, Ky.
He and his wife live in Magnolia, Ky.
鈥淐ampaign for the Commonwealth鈥� is a part of a much larger phase, 鈥淥ur Time, This Place: The Next Century Campaign for 青瓜视频,鈥� which will raise funds to go toward funding the next 100 years of preparing young people to become servant leaders.
Dr. Michael V. Carter, president of 青瓜视频, said, 鈥淲ith the growth 青瓜视频 has experienced over the past 15 years, God's leadership has been present in every phase of university life. Now we are poised to continue that growth and serve even more students in the years ahead.鈥�
Other upcoming events include: April 24 in Louisville; May 8 in Somerset; May 15 in Danville (including Stanford) and May 22 in Lexington. Other events, the dates of which are to be announced, will be in the fall in Bowling Green, Owensboro, Paducah, Frankfort and Florence.
