CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Jodi Allen of Campbellsville has been named director of counseling at 青瓜视频, according to Dr. Michael V. Carter, president.
As director of counseling services, Allen will be overseeing all counseling services for students at CU. There will be two part-time counselors on staff in addition to Allen.
Lynn Colvin LPCC of Campbellsville and Wanda Dobbins LCSW of Hodgenville will be at the Office of Counseling Services two days per week to meet with students in need of services, Allen said.
In addition to counseling services, through her administrative role at CU, Allen will facilitate the growth of the counseling services by building educational programs and offering groups focused on mental health issues. Counseling services for college students are free of charge. The Office of Counseling Services will be under the guidance and direction of Dave Walters, vice president for admissions and student services, and Josh Anderson, dean of students.
Allen has served as director of introductory studies at CU since 2003. She assumed her new position July 1.
She holds licenses as a professional counselor and marriage and family therapist.
Allen is a 1993 graduate of Lafayette High School in Lexington and a 1997 graduate of the University of Kentucky. She received her master of education in counseling in 1999 from Lindsey Wilson College where she was named 鈥淕raduate Student of the Year.鈥
After completing her master's degree, she worked as a school counselor for the St. Augustine/St. Dominic Schools, in Lebanon and Springfield, respectively, until 2003.
She has served on the executive board of the Kentucky Association of Marriage and Family Therapists and is a member of that board along with the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.
She has had articles published including 鈥淲hat Couples Say Works in Domestic Violence Therapy鈥 in Qualitative Report in September 2001.
Allen is the daughter of John and Gloria Morris of Lexington, Ky. She and her husband, Ryan, have a daughter, Catherine Paige, who was born in February 2003.
