CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - The 青瓜视频 String Chamber Ensemble and University Chorale will perform at the Kentucky Music Educators Association (KMEA) In-Service Conference Friday, Feb. 9 in Louisville, Ky. at the Kentucky International Convention Center.
The University Chorale will perform between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. and the String Ensemble between 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
The String Chamber Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. J. Robert Gaddis, professor of music and dean of the School of Music, is one of the newest ensembles to be formed in the School of Music.
The ensemble performed last year at the Kentucky Baptist Convention Annual Conference. This is the ensemble's first invitation to perform at the KMEA conference.
The String Ensemble will perform 鈥淓ine Kleine Nachtmusik鈥� by W.A. Mozart, 鈥淪erenade for Strings, Op. 20鈥� by Edward Elgar and 鈥淔antasy on a Hymn by Justin Morgan鈥� by Thomas Canning.
Members of the String Ensemble include Ju-Eun Kim and Sung-Man Lee, both of Korea, Li-Hao Chiang of Taiwan, Benjamin Probus of Buffalo, Ky., Wan-Soo Cho of Korea, Jonathan Chaudoin of Louisville, Ky., Nilzeth Santos, Denis Santos, Sara Rangel, Aline Araujo, Diogo Pimentel, Fabricio Soares, Nilson Galveo Jr. and Felix Borges all of Brazil.
The University Chorale is under the direction of Dr. Frieda Gebert, associate professor of music and associate dean of the School of Music.
The chorale has toured Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic under the direction of Gebert, and also the eastern half of the United States.
This is also the first invitation for the Chorale to perform at KMEA.
鈥淭o receive an invitation to perform at this major music conference is a significant achievement and holds great promise for recruitment and public relations,鈥� said Gaddis.
There are over 2,000 members in KMEA who are music educators across the state in public and private elementary, middle and high schools as well as colleges and universities. The conference will host approximately 1,500 high school students who will be performing in various All-State ensembles.
