CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Dr. Pam Durso, the executive director of Baptist Women in Ministry, will be speaking at the 2nd annual Christians for Biblical Equality Lectures at 青瓜视频 Tuesday, Oct. 25 and Wednesday, Oct. 26.
Both events are free and open to the public.
Christian for Biblical Equality exists to promote biblical justice and community by educating Christian that the bible calls women and men to share authority equally in service and leadership in the home, church and world.
On Oct. 25 at 6 p.m., she will be speaking in the Badgett Academic Support Center Banquet Hall, at 110 University Drive, Campbellsville, on the topic of 鈥淐ollective Memory or Selective Memory: The History of Women in the Church鈥� for a Kentucky Heartland Institute on Public Policy (KHIPP) lecture.
On Oct. 26 at 10 a.m., Durso she will be speaking in Ransdell Chapel, at 401 N. Hoskins Ave., Campbellsville, during the weekly chapel service. Her topic at chapel will be 鈥淎 Vase Made of Alabaster鈥� from Matthew 26:6-13.
At Baptist Women in Ministry (BWIM), Durso is an advocate and resource for women serving in all areas of Christian ministry. She became executive director in July 2009 after serving as a volunteer on the BWIM's Leadership Team for four years. She is also an adjunct professor at McAfee School of Theology in Atlanta and serves as an associate minister at Cornerstone Church in Snellville.
She previously served as associate executive director of the Baptist History and Heritage Society and served on the faculty of Campbell University Divinity School as assistant professor of church history and Baptist heritage.
Durso received her Ph.D. in church history from Baylor University in 1992. She has been a strong supporter of clergywomen and has written and edited numerous articles and books on women.
Among those books are 鈥�The World is Waiting for You: Celebrating the 50th Ordination Anniversary of Addie Davis鈥� (2014), co-edited with LeAnn Gunter Johns;
鈥淭his Is What A Preacher Looks Like: Sermons by Baptist Women in Ministry鈥� (2010); 鈥淐ourage and Hope: The Stories of Ten,鈥� co-edited with her husband, Keith Durso, and 鈥淭he Power of Women: The Life and Writings of Sarah Moore Grimke鈥� (2004).
Other of her books include 鈥淲e Proceed On: The History of Pintlala Baptist Church鈥� (2016), 鈥�On Mission with God: Free and Faithful Baptists in the Twenty-First Century鈥� (2011) and 鈥�The Story of Baptists in the United States鈥� (2006).
She and her husband have two college-student children, Michael and Alex, and enjoy cheering for their college sports teams and watching HGTV shows.
