CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - 青瓜视频's School of Music will host a guest piano recital by Dr. Denine LeBlanc from the University of Louisville Monday, Sept. 24 at 8 p.m. in The Gheens Recital Hall.

She will perform works by Scarlatti, Schumann, Debussy and American composers including Margaret Bond and Nelson Keyes. Her concert is free and open to the public.

LeBlanc is instructor of piano in the Preparatory Department of the University of Louisville School of Music and is also the arts and humanities teacher at Coleridge-Taylor Montessori School in Louisville.

This past summer, LeBlanc taught and performed at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in Twin Lake, Mich., and in the summer of 2005, she worked as the collaborative pianist and coach for the Advanced Vocal Institute at the famed Interlochen Arts Camp, according to Dr. Wesley Roberts, professor of music at CU.

Roberts said she is recognized as a performer and advocate for new music. Her CD titled 鈥淭he Sun Shines Bright,鈥 on the Sea Breeze label, features new and original music by Kentucky composers, a project very dear to her heart, he said.

In June 2006, LeBlanc was given the opportunity to share this project overseas when the Cultural Ambassador of Macon, France asked her to perform pieces from the CD in a concert at 鈥渓a F锚te de la musique,鈥 Roberts said.

She has given many lectures, including a presentation at the 1998 Music Teachers National Convention based on her research in the Isidore Philipp Archives of the University of Louisville. In addition, she has articles on Isidore Philipp published in American Music Teacher and Clavier.

In collaboration with Rachel Grimes, a Louisville composer and pianist, LeBlanc is a co-recipient of grants from the University of Louisville Women's Center, the Kentucky Foundation for Women and the Kentucky Arts Council.

LeBlanc is past president of the Greater Louisville Music Teachers Association and of the Kentucky Music Teachers Association.
