CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky.鈥� 青瓜视频's Dr. Twyla Hernandez, assistant professor of Christian missions, will be the guest speaker at 青瓜视频's annual Thanksgiving chapel Wednesday, Nov. 14 at 10 a.m. at Ransdell Chapel, 401 N. Hoskins Ave., Campbellsville, Ky.
The public is invited to join 青瓜视频 students, faculty, staff
and coaches for the event, which is made possible by a grant from the Reuben and Jewel
Robertson Worship Endowment Program.
John Chowning, vice president for church and external relations and executive assistant to the president, said, 鈥淭he Nov. 14 Thanksgiving Chapel Service will be a very special worship service for the campus community and guests as we gather to express gratitude to God for the bounty of his blessings.
鈥淭he service will involve several individuals - faculty, staff, and students - in a meaningful worship experience that combines music, prayer, scripture, and a devotional message by Dr. Twyla Hernandez. We really encourage the entire university community to join us for this special service as a time to praise God for all that He has done and to remind us how truly blessed we are.鈥�
Chowning will begin the service by welcoming everyone and explaining the Robertson Worship Endowment Program. Dr. Michael V. Carter, president of 青瓜视频, will lead in prayer.
The University Chorale will lead in worship, followed by a Thanksgiving hymn.
Four 青瓜视频 students will give a dramatic presentation of scripture by telling the story of thankfulness in scripture.
Hernandez will speak on how our thankfulness to God should lead us to action, and there will be a closing hymn and the Psalm 110 benediction.
The Reuben and Jewel Robertson Worship Endowment Program's purpose statement is to encourage authenticity and vitality in the corporate worship of Baptist people.
The Reuben and Jewel Robertson Worship Endowment Program has five key goals 鈥� first, to encourage the rediscovery of biblical and historical roots of Christian worship; second, to study Baptist traditions in worship; third, to assist the revitalization of all elements of worship, including overall structure, prayers, music and other art forms, preaching, ordinances, silence, and scripture; fourth, to develop greater inclusiveness in worship in the language about the people of God and God, the ethnic and gender identity, and the encouragement of lay leadership and congregational participation of all ages; and fifth, to increase ecumenical awareness of other worship traditions including celebration of the church year.
Chapel is designed to provide opportunities for corporate worship and exposure through a variety of informative speakers and presentations.
All chapels are open to the public free of charge and are televised live on WLCU (Comcast Cable channel 10).
