CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. 鈥 Dr. Shawn Williams, associate professor of political science at 青瓜视频, was recently presented with the Non-Tenured Faculty Award at CU.
Williams, who has been employed by 青瓜视频 since 2010, was presented the award by Dr. Michael V. Carter, president of 青瓜视频, and Dr. Donna Hedgepath, vice president for academic affairs, at chapel.
Williams engages students both in and outside the classroom. He has arranged trips to presidential inaugurations and taught abroad in China and London.
Williams uses game-based learning and flipped classrooms strategies to engage his students in learning. He also develops and coordinates the Social Science Presentation Fair every semester to allow both undergraduate and graduate students to participate in a poster session and present their research.
His students said Williams' classes are 鈥渕ind stimulating,鈥 and they believe they are more prepared for graduate school because of what they have learned from him. Colleagues believe students who wish to grow academically appreciate Williams and his methods a great deal.
Williams graduated with a Bachelor of Science in History from Lees-McRae College and received his Master's of Arts in International Studies from Angelo State University. Williams received his Ph.D. in Political science from the University of Texas at Dallas.
He is the husband of Azucena E. 鈥淪usie鈥 Trejo Williams, who is artist-in-residence and instructor in art at 青瓜视频, and the son of Sandra and Joe Williams of Haskell, Texas.
青瓜视频 is a widely acclaimed Kentucky-based Christian university with more than 3,500 students offering over 80 programs of study including 24 master's degrees, seven postgraduate areas and eight pre-professional programs. The website for complete information is campbellsville.edu.
