CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - 青瓜视频 has broken the record for the number of new students according to a statement from Dr. Michael V. Carter, president of CU.
CU currently has a total of 728 new students for the fall 2009 semester, which includes freshmen, transfer students and those who have been re-admitted, which is up from 648 at this time last year, according to Paul Dameron, director of institutional research.
There is also a record number of freshman enrolled at CU, 515, which is up from 449 in 2008.
Dameron said the final count of total fall enrollment will be released sometime in September.
Dave Walters, vice president for admissions and student services at CU, said an 鈥渁pparent record number of students鈥� are also living on-campus, but stated an official number is yet to be released.
CU freshmen had an opportunity to mingle and prepare themselves for the coming semester during the 鈥淲elcome Weekend Extravaganza鈥� Aug. 21-23.
The weekend was full of informational sessions, fellowship, music, and numerous other activities to help the students get to know one another, as well as an inaugural dedication service for the Class of 2013.
CU students also participated in an attempt to set a Guinness World Record by stacking mattresses. It appears that attempt was successful, with a height of 12 feet, nine inches, but an official confirmation from Guinness has yet to be received.

The annual Welcome Week activities continue through this week for all students and feature a campus-wide picnic, Cosmic Bowling at Phillips Lanes, a pool party, Snack Attack, and other activities, and next week will be Freshman Week, featuring Organized Mass Chaos, an open house with the president, Caf茅 on the Patio, and numerous other activities that help get students connected with each other and with Campbellsville University.
It is not too late to sign up for fall classes. The deadline to enroll is Friday, Sept. 4.
