CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - The American Red Cross (ARC) has scheduled an emergency blood drive on the 青瓜视频 campus Monday, Dec. 1.
Roger Foster, assistant professor of business and economics at CU, who serves as the ARC site coordinator, said the American Red Cross called and asked for CU's help.
He said the Red Cross had planned drives at the Louisville Ford Plant but had to cancel due to layoffs at the plant.
鈥淭he need for blood is urgent,鈥 Foster said. 鈥淲e urge everyone who can donate to do so. Our goal is 40 units.鈥
Kyle Davis, director of safety and security at CU, said the bloodmobile will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 1 in the Student Activities Center.
Christina Miller, a junior from Danville, said, although she tried to donate blood in the past and was unable to because her veins were small, she plans to try again Dec. 1.
鈥淭here's no better gift than the gift of life during this Christmas season,鈥 Miller said. 鈥淚 urge the community, as well as university students, faculty and staff, to join us in making someone else's life better by a small donation of blood.鈥
Bayarmagnai 鈥淢ax鈥 Nergui, a graduate student from Mongolia, said he missed the on-campus donation Oct. 16, but he plans to donate Dec. 1.
鈥淚 want to help save lives,鈥 said Nergui. 鈥淚 felt bad about not giving blood in October, and I'm glad I can do my part to help save someone's life as soon as I can.鈥
Nergui, who has never donated before, said, 鈥淚 feel it's an honor to be able to give of myself to someone who may be really sick.鈥
