CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - The All-State Piano Ensemble, sponsored by the Kentucky Music Teachers Association, will give its annual concert during the association's conference on Tuesday, Oct. 28, at 10:30 a.m. in the Student Activities Center on the campus of 青瓜视频.
This year's All-State Ensemble consists of 90 students from elementary to senior high schools representing 13 teaching studios from across the state of Kentucky. Students are recommended by their teachers to participate and prepare specific selections in advance for the muli-keyboard 鈥渕onster鈥� concert, said Dr. Wesley Roberts, professor of music at CU.
Susan Ogilvy from Denton, Texas, will conduct the concert. Ogilvy and her husband, Jim, own and operate Ogilvy Music Studio in Denton. She is a composer of piano solo music for Alfred Publishing and Harris Music Companies and writes keyboard ensemble music. Ogilvy has been a clinician for the Yamaha Summer Technology Seminars and has given numerous presentations at major music conferences across the United States.
Joining the All-State Ensemble will be the 青瓜视频 Chorale under the direction of Tony Cunha, assistant professor of music. The chorale will sing 鈥淎 Man for All Times鈥� by Glen Rice with the All-State Ensemble.
The concert marks the 34th year for the All-State Ensemble and is the closing event in the four-day KMTA Conference in Campbellsville. It is coordinated by a team of teachers from across Kentucky, and also includes a smaller Teachers Ensemble. The concert will be followed by a closing ceremony directed by KMTA President Vicki McVay. The community is welcome to attend the free concert.
