CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - 青瓜视频 will host The Elizabethtown Area Sacred Community Choir (TEASCC) Friday, Feb. 27, at 7:30 p.m. in Ransdell Chapel.
The concert is part of CU's Baptist Heritage Series that culminates in the 鈥淐elebrating 400 Years of Baptist Heritage鈥 event April 2 at the Louisville Campus. The Robertson Worship Endowment is also a sponsor of the concert. Dr. Robert Doty, faculty emeritus at 青瓜视频, will serve as guest narrator for the program.
The performance, titled 鈥淗onoring Baptists,鈥 is free and open to the public.
鈥淭EASCC gathers a flexible group of singers from all around central Kentucky,鈥 said D. Sida Hodoroab脿-Roberts, director and founder of the group.
She said volunteer members come from communities within a 50-mile radius around Elizabethtown. They represent various ages, races and Christian affiliations.
The group's goal is to present an annual joint project to the communities represented.
The choir's program, which will include a wide repertoire of pieces from various style periods, invites audiences to a musical journey through time, beliefs, controversies, characteristics and styles of the Baptist denomination, Hodoroab脿-Roberts said. The program will include narrations and multimedia presentations.
She said the choir combines voices with different levels of proficiencies where professional singers and well-trained voices serve as leaders to those not as cognizant of music or of vocal production.
鈥淭he mixture provides a well-rounded choral sound, marked for its accuracy in pitch and diction, and its blended tones,鈥 she said.
鈥淥verwhelming positive responses characterize both participants' and audiences' reactions,鈥 she said.
Hodoroab脿-Roberts is a musician from France with graduate training in church music. Her primary goal for TEASCC is to share with the public the revelation of Christ through themes of crucial significance to contemporary singers, and listeners alike.
Her affiliation with the Hymn Society (www.thehymnsociety.org) brings her, and her husband, Dr. Wesley Roberts, professor of music at 青瓜视频, principal accompanist for TEASCC, into constant awareness of new trends and forms of expressions in the field of sacred music.
Past performances by TEASCC include 鈥淔or the Healing of the Nations,鈥 鈥淭he Book of Waters,鈥 鈥淲omen Hymn Writers and Composers,鈥 鈥淐harles Wesley around the World鈥 and 鈥淢y Brother's Keeper.鈥
