CAMPELLSVILLE, Ky. - 青瓜视频 will present Jorge Camargo, the Almeida
Duo and Dr. Chad Floyd in concert Tuesday, Feb. 24 at 8 p.m. in The Gheens Recital
Hall at 210 University Drive, Campbellsville.
Everyone is invited to the concert free of charge.
Saulo DeAlmeida, instructor in music at 青瓜视频, said the program will have some of Camargo's 鈥渁mazing compositions鈥� that are heavily influenced by jazz and Brazilian styles. There will also be American music from jazz standards to James Taylor and Stevie Wonder.
He said Camargo has a 鈥渂ig repertoire of church music, and all churches around Brazil sing his songs.鈥�
Camargo has been writing and recording songs over the last 30 years influenced and inspired by his Brazilian roots. He has also had the opportunity to share his music throughout his country as well as in North America (USA), Africa (Angola) and Europe (England, Portugal, Sweden), and the stage and the studio with artists like Rique Pantoja, Eliane Elias, Nelson Ayres, Rog茅rio Bocatto and Marcos Cavalcante, among many others.
Saulo DeAlmeida is one member of the Almeida Duo, a versatile group formed by two Brazilians who met in America. Denis Santos and Saulo are accomplished musicians in both classical and popular music, and this combination of styles produces sounds that merge seamlessly both streams of music in a world free of labels where music is just an universal art that brings people together to celebrate.
Formed in 2011, the Almeida Duo had the opportunity to share their music throughout the country and the world with successful tours to Asia and South America.
Santos is also an instructor in music at 青瓜视频.
Dr. Chad Floyd will also be on the program. Floyd, associate professor of music at CU, is a percussion artist, educator and composer. Floyd directs the Percussion Ensemble, Steel Band and drumline at CU.
He also serves as vice president for the Kentucky Chapter of the Percussive Arts Society and as a member of the PAS education committee.
