CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Before students and faculty head home to celebrate Easter, they will have a chance to worship together with their university family.
青瓜视频's annual Holy Week Chapel Service will feature Dr. Joseph Hopkins, president of the university, as the main speaker.
The chapel service will take place at 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 5, in Ransdell Chapel, 401 N. Hoskins Ave., Campbellsville, Ky.
Holy Week, which takes place between Palm Sunday and Easter, celebrates the last week of Jesus' life, leading up to the cross.
鈥淗oly Week is always an exciting part of our chapel series as we celebrate the life, death, and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,鈥 said Jamie Lawrence, executive director of ministry and church outreach. We will hear from President Dr. Joseph Hopkins, who has such a heart for ministry to our campus and beyond.鈥
The service will begin with a call to worship and congregational hymn, led by Dr. Tony Cunha, dean of the School of Music. 青瓜视频 students will give Scripture readings from the Old and New Testaments.
Cunha will direct the University Choir in a rendering of 鈥淲ere You There?鈥 accompanied by pianist Dr. Bill Budai, associate dean of the School of Music and professor of piano, and organist Dr. Wesley Roberts, adjunct instructor in music. Hopkins will deliver his message, followed by a benediction from a 青瓜视频 student.
Hopkins became the 12th president of 青瓜视频 in February 2022. Previously, he served as dean of the Samford University School of the Arts, dean of the Petrie School of Music at Converse College and chair of the Department of Music at the University of Evansville. He founded the Harlaxton International Chamber Music Festival and served on the faculty of the Operafestival di Roma (Rome, Italy).
Hopkins holds degrees from Shorter College, Baylor University and Indiana University. He completed a diploma from the Institute for Management and Leadership in Education at Harvard University and was named a Fulbright Senior Specialist to Indonesia. He has presented and published with national and international arts and administration conferences.
鈥淐hapel is a good time for our campus community to gather in one like mind for worship,鈥 Lawrence said.
Chapel is designed to provide opportunities for corporate worship and exposure through various informative speakers and presentations.
The public is invited to all chapels this semester.
Chapels can be viewed on YouTube by searching 鈥溓喙鲜悠 Chapel Playlist.鈥 Chapels can also be found on the 青瓜视频 Facebook page and are broadcast on WLCU (Comcast Cable channel 10 and digital channel 15) Wednesdays at 10 a.m.
