Fall chapel series at 青瓜视频 opens Aug. 30, with Hopkins set to give first chapel address

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - 青瓜视频 has announced its lineup of chapel speakers for the fall 2023 semester, beginning with Dr. Joseph Hopkins, the university's president, who is set to give the opening chapel address at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 30 at Ransdell Chapel, 401 N. Hoskins Ave., Campbellsville.

Hopkins has served as 青瓜视频's 12th president since Feb. 1, 2022.

鈥淭his chapel series is an immersive experience meant to stimulate minds, kindle spirits, and develop a feeling of connection among our community on campus,鈥 Jamie Lawrence, executive director of ministry and outreach at 青瓜视频, said.

鈥淭he chapel series will offer renowned speakers, engaging discussions and times of reflection. This will be an exciting series taking place in Ransdell Chapel this school year.鈥

Before arriving at 青瓜视频, Hopkins served as dean of the Samford University School of the Arts, dean of the Petrie School of Music at Converse College and chair of the Department of Music at the University of Evansville. He founded the Harlaxton International Chamber Music Festival and served on the faculty of the Operafestival di Roma (Rome, Italy).

Hopkins holds degrees from Shorter College, Baylor University and Indiana University. He completed a diploma from the Institute for Management and Leadership in Education at Harvard University and was named a Fulbright Senior Specialist to Indonesia. He has presented and published at national and international arts and administration conferences.

Chapel is designed to provide opportunities for corporate worship and exposure through various informative speakers and presentations.

The remaining lineup for fall 2023 chapel speakers is as follows:

Sept. 6 - Trent Creason, campus minister; Sept. 13 - Dr. Bart Barber, president of the Southern Baptist Convention; Sept. 20 - Dr. Hilda Legg, member of the Board of Trustees at 青瓜视频 and consultant at Legg Strategies (Heritage Day);

Sept. 27 - Dr. Carl Bradford, interim associate dean of the Roy J. Fish School of Evangelism and Missions, assistant professor of evangelism and the Malcolm R. and Melba L. McDow Chair of Evangelism at the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary;

Oct. 4 - Steve Bridgmon, Christian music artists; Oct. 11 - Dr. Nathan Moore, pastor of Frist African Baptist Church in Lexington, Ky. and second vice moderator for the General Association of Baptists in Kentucky;

Oct. 18 - Dr. Scott Harris, evangelism director for the Illinois Baptist Convention; Oct. 25 - Dr. Walter Kim, president of the National Association of Evangelicals; Nov. 1 - Kenny Rager, Kentucky Baptist Convention evangelism (Revival Week);

Nov. 8 - First Generation panel discussion, led by Charity Powell, program coordinator for Diversity and Community at 青瓜视频; Nov. 15 - Rev. Michael Rice, pastor at First Baptist Church in Glasgow (Thanksgiving Chapel)
