CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - 青瓜视频's School of Music will hold a Flute and Clarinet Ensembles Concert Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 8 p.m. in The Gheens Recital Hall in Gosser Fine Arts Center, 210 University Drive, Campbellsville, Ky.
The concert will begin with a variety of arrangements for clarinet quartet. 鈥淲e will begin with an arrangement of the fourth and fifth movements of Handel's 鈥淐oncerto Grosso Opus 6 No. 1. Both pieces are named 鈥楢llegro,'鈥 Dr. Denis Santos, assistant professor of music, said. An arrangement of a piece from the Renaissance period called 鈥淔antasy No. 4鈥 by William Byrd will also be played.
Later in the program, a contemporary piece, 鈥淲hen Sunny Gets Blue鈥 by Jack Segal, and a clarinet quartet, 鈥淐otton Candy鈥 by David Marlatt, will be performed.
Performers for the concert include Catherine Bryant, Luke Cave, Kate Claunch, Laura McPherson, Daisy Rodriguez, Hayley Rockwell and Robin Wilson, all on clarinet.
The flute ensemble will also feature an array of artists. 鈥淲e will begin our portion of the concert with an arrangement of a flute sonata by Frederick the Great, King of Persia, arranged for flute solo and flute ensemble with cello accompaniment,鈥 Dr. Lisa McArthur, professor of music, said.
Kaylee Burchett will be the soloist for the first arrangement. Other performers for the first arrangement include Kathlynne Berry, Madison Lynn, McArthur on flute, and Saulo DeAlmeida, instructor in music, cello and jazz, on cello.
The second arrangement, 鈥淲ater Music鈥 by Georg Frideric Handel, will be a flute quartet featuring Berry, Burchett, Lynn and McArthur.
A collection of Stephen Foster's songs will be played for flute ensemble featuring oboe students Anna Avery and Madison Bishop. 鈥淲e are dedication that piece to the memory of Dr. David Hedrick, former 青瓜视频 faculty member and director of the Stephen Foster Story,鈥 McArthur said.
Avery and Bishop will also play an oboe duet by Franz Wilhelm Ferling called 鈥淎rietta.鈥
鈥淲e will close the concert with an arrangement of a piece for all performers to join together, clarinet, flute and oboe. It is a Brazilian Choro titled 鈥淎ndre虂 de Sapato Novo.鈥
The concert is free and open to the public.
