Greater Campbellsville United Awards Clinkscales Humanitarian Award to Margaret Stewart at CU Chapel Program

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - 青瓜视频 was the host when Margaret Mills Stewart of Campbellsville was presented the Frances Clinkscales Humanitarian Award by Wanda Washington, Greater Campbellsville United coordinator, and John Chowning, chair of the board of Greater Campbellsville United.

The occasion was during an address by John Johnson, executive director of the Kentucky Human Rights Commission, at chapel in the Ransdell Chapel on campus.

Washington explained that the award is given in honor Frances Clinkscales, a former board member of Greater Campbellsville United and a City of Campbellsville councilwoman. She died Feb. 27, 2008, in Elizabethtown, Ky.

鈥淢iss Frances is someone this community will never forget,鈥 Washington said. 鈥淢iss Frances let everyone she met know that she loved them and shared her unique words: 鈥楶retty, pretty.'鈥

鈥淭he Greater Campbellsville United board wishes to continue her legacy,鈥 Washington said.

The annual Frances Clinkscales Humanitarian Award is the fulfillment of that desire.

Washington said Stewart was employed at the Taylor County Public Library 21 years. Stewart is a 鈥渧aluable historian for the community,鈥 Washington said.

She has participated in and is still involved in various women organizations. She attends Pleasant Union Baptist Church where she sings hymns. Stewart was a friend of Clinkscales.

She is a 1944 graduate of Durham High School.
