CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Lori Eubank, adjunct instructor in the School of Education, was named the recipient of the Challenger Award from the Student Government Association (SGA) during 青瓜视频's Honors and Awards Day video May 2.
Rebekah Mobley, president of SGA, announced the award during the Honors and Awards Day video produced to honor award recipients in place of the typical chapel service that could not be held due to COVID-19.
The Challenger Award is given to a faculty member who challenges, encourages and pushes his or her students at 青瓜视频.
Mobley said Eubank has seen many accomplishments throughout her life but those accomplishments have not come without hard work, struggle or most importantly faith and trust in God.
She has a long-standing background in education and due to her recent blindness, made the difficult decision to leave her position as administrator of Kentucky Christian Academy.
Like anyone, Eubank has had a time of mourning her loss of sight and loss of career and adjusting to a new reality. While some may have expected her to adapt at a slower pace, she has proven that God still has work for her to do.
Eubank has had training on how to navigate her community with a cane, has learned new computer programs and has had training with her new guide dog, Gus. Eubank has a strong relationship with God and shows her faith and trust in Him every day.
鈥淎s adjunct instructor in the School of Education, Lori continues to challenge herself as she shares her experience and love of teaching with her students,鈥 Mobley said.
Eubank was the tutor for Caleb Watkins, 10-year-old son of Rusty Watkins, dean of student services and director of camps at 青瓜视频, and his wife, Meagan. They would meet after school for two days a week and she would help him with his math and reading.
鈥淢s. Lori is really nice to me. She helps me to calm down and helps me with my work,鈥 Caleb said.
Eubank is married to Dr. Damon Eubank, chair of the division of social sciences and professor of history at 青瓜视频, and they have two children, Lorin and Micah.
