CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Singer/songwriter Randy Stonehill will be speaking at Campbellsville University's chapel service Wednesday, Jan. 24 at 10 a.m. in the Ransdell Chapel located on 401 N. Hoskins Ave., Campbellsville.
The chapel series for the spring 2018 semester is 鈥淎 Coat of Many Colors鈥� based on Genesis 37:3.
Stonehill, sometimes dubbed the 鈥淐lown Prince鈥� of contemporary Christian music, and later in his career nicknamed 鈥淯ncle Rand,鈥� writes and sings insightful and also lighthearted Christian light rock music.
Everyone is invited to the chapel.
Stonehill was born in Stockton, Calif., March 12, 1952, the son of Leonard Stonehill and his wife, Pauline Correia, and is the younger brother of Jeffrey Stonehill. He graduated from Leigh High School in San Jose, Calif., then moved to Los Angeles where he stayed with pioneer Christian rock singer Larry Norman.
Stonehill's first album, 鈥淏orn Twice,鈥� was released in 1971. A year later, he made his film-acting debut in The Blob sequel, 鈥淏eware! The Blob.鈥� He also made a cameo appearance in the 1973 Billy Graham film 鈥淭ime to Run,鈥� performing his song 鈥淚 Love You.鈥�
In 1976, Stonehill released the 鈥淲elcome to Paradise鈥� album that became a landmark album for the songwriter and was voted 鈥�3rd Most Important Contemporary Christian Album鈥� in a mid-1980s poll of Christian music critics.
In 1984, the album project 鈥淐elebrate This Heartbeat,鈥� Stonehill joined forces with longtime friend Phil Keaggy for the song 鈥淲ho Will Save The Children?鈥� The two later formed The Keaggy/Stonehill Band in 1989.
In 2010, Stonehill was inducted into the Christian Music Hall of Fame.
Chapel is designed to provide opportunities for corporate worship and exposure through a variety of informative speakers and presentations.
